Development Plan Viewer Help

There is no need to register on this website to view South Dublin Co. Council's interactive Development

Plan map. Registration is only required to make an online submission.

To view only, click on the Viewer tab.

Some layers on the map have an automatic visibility feature and therefore are only visible at certain zoom levels.


Viewer Page


On initial load of the website you are brought to the Development Plans viewer page.
This page allows you to interactively view the entire Development Plan, using the controls explained below.


The Zoom In Tool 

A Zoom In tool is available to allow you to zoom the map in to the level you require.
       Click on the icon and then click on the area of the map you want to zoom in on.

The Zoom Out Tool

A Zoom Out tool is available to allow you to zoom the map out to the level you require.
       Click on the icon and then click on the area of the map you want to zoom in on.

The Zoom Scroll Tool

A Zoom Scroll tool is available to allow you to zoom the map out to the level you require.
        Click on the + or - to zoom in or out.

The Pan Tool

A Pan tool is available to allow you to navigate the county.
       Click the icon and then click the map and while holding the mouse button down you can
       pan (move) the map left, right, up or down.

The Navigation Tool

A navigation tool is available to allow you to navigate the county.
           Click the arrows to move the map in the direction you want the map to pan.

The Zoom Full Extent Tool

 A Zoom Extents tool is available to allow zooming to the max extent of the map,
       once clicked the map returns to the original location and size.

The Back Extent Tool

The Back Extent tool, this tool when clicked navigates the map back to the previous zoom and location.
       (Similar to back button on a web browser)

The Forward Extent Tool

The Forward Extent tool, this tool when clicked, after a back extent has been used, navigates
       the map back to the previous zoom level and location.
       (Similar to forward button on a web browser)

The Identify Tool

The Identify tool is available to show the information stored behind the map. Click the icon and then click
       the location on the map you want to identify. A pop-up box will appear showing the relevant information
       about this location.

The Address Search



        The search is available to allow you to search by address or street. Click the down arrow on the right and select a
         search option.



        A new box will appear allowing you to enter the address/street.



        Click the Search button after entering the address.



        A grid will appear showing the results.

Click the zoom icon in the results grid to zoom the map to the selected street/address.

The Layer Selector



        The layer selector is available to allow layer activation. The selector can be opened by clicking the drop down arrow
        that appears when the tool is selected.



         Layers can be turned on by checking the relevant check box and layer groups expanded by clicking the + symbol.
         Some layers on the map have an automatic visibility feature and therefore are only visible at certain zoom levels.

Legends


         Legends can be viewed by expanding the Layer Selector Tool fully. The Selector Tool can be opened by clicking the drop down arrow
         that appears when the tool is selected.
Expand layers and sub-layers fully to view legends.

Register Page


To make an online submission you must first register on this website. To do this you must
go to the register page by clicking the register tab.



The following page then opens.




Registration details required.
Your first name.
Your surname.
A username, cannot be more than 10 characters long and may only contain alphanumeric characters.
A password, cannot be more than 10 characters long and must be 7 or more characters long.
Re-enter your password.
Your email address, this must be a valid email address as it is used as part of the registration process.
Your phone number.
Your address.

You now have an option to receive email notifications of Development Plan Progression.
Check the box if required.



The registration validation must now be completed



Enter the code as shown on your screen at time of registration, this code is not case sensitive.



Click the Create user button.
Your user is now created and an email is sent to your email address, a link is included in this
email that allows you to activate your user. You must click this link and allow the web page to
open to activate your user. If you do not do this, your user will remain inactive and you will not
be able to login to the website to make an online submission.

Login Page


After creating a user on the Register page you may login to this site and make an online submission.
Click the login tab.



The following page then opens.



Enter your username and password.



Click the login button and you are then brought to the Add Submission Page.

Add Submission Page


This page allows you to make an online submission to South Dublin County Council regarding the Development Plan.
All tools on the Viewer page are also available on this page as well as one additional tool that allows you to markup the site your submission concerns.

The Markup Tool




Zoom in to the area you require. Click the Markup tool then click on the map at the point you want to commence drawing your polygon. Click at each
point you require to add an aditional vertex.



Double click to complete the polygon and it will be automatically highlighted.

The page then scrolls to the Submission Type and Submission Text input area.



Select a Submission Type from the dropdown list.



Input text in the Submission text area up to a maximum of 3,500 characters.



Click the submit button to complete the process.
You will receive an email confirming your submission, this email contains your submission text
and a jpeg file, that contains a copy of the polygon you submitted, as an attachment.
